Sure, you could go with “new year, new you,” but you are already perfect just the way you are. Instead, we’d like to suggest ringing in the new year by making some changes to your surroundings – make them as fabulous as you already are. The real question is are you in the mood for big design changes or some smaller changes that make a big difference?
We love working on big projects, but sometimes you just need to make a change right now. We get it, and we have a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
There is nothing faster or simpler for immediate impact than a can of paint. Without spending too much time or money you can completely change the look and feel of a whole room, or just add some visual interest in a small area. Dark and bold color palettes are currently in style (just take a look at Farrow & Ball). If bold colors appeal to you – but it’s a big departure from what you’re used to – we say go for it, but start small. Go with the guest bathroom or bedroom for that pop and see how you feel about it before repainting the whole house.
If you’re already on board with a lot of color consider jumping all the way in and painting your ceiling to match the walls. The saturation of color gives the room a rich, luxe feel.
Rearranging your furniture is another great way to get a fresh feel without a big budget or time commitment. Really take a look at what you have throughout your home. Moving pieces around in the same room offers a little change. If you want something with more impact try moving pieces from one room to another. Have some space in a bedroom? Try moving an armchair from a living area and adding some throw pillows and a cozy blanket for a great bedtime reading spot. If you need to add some seating in a living area take the opportunity to go antiquing for some small, mid-century accent chairs. They don’t take up much space, but have a lot of style. If you’re ready to make some bigger changes there’s no time like the present. The timeline for renovation projects depends entirely upon the details. The sooner we know what your vision is, the sooner we can get started so you can have your new design as soon as possible. Just as an example, if you want to have a pool by this summer that project needs to get started this month.
