Okay, so we went over our 5-step process in our last blog post. So, today, we wanted to give you a little insight into what may expected of you in this renovation partnership.
Hmm? Yep, you read that right. In order to make any renovation or new construction project a success, it takes teamwork. And that means, there’s a little bit of homework for you – the homeowner.
Yes, yes, we know – you left school behind ages ago and you were not prepared to have to do homework. If you wanted to do homework, you would have tried the DIY approach, and no one recommends that. We know. We know.
But trust us, this is FUN homework.
If you’re planning to renovate your home, or even build new, you probably have already a few great ideas whirling around inside your head. You’ve probably already saved some images on Instagram or Pinterest or even from some magazines. Maybe you’ve snapped some pictures of your friend’s oversized kitchen island or that incredible hotel bathroom you stayed at in Brazil.
That’s essentially all your homework is. Do some design research. We told you it would be fun!
Before beginning the Design Development stage of your renovation project, it’s important to have a good idea of what you want to accomplish with the aesthetics of your renovation.
Start scrolling through social media, design magazines, consider hotels or other houses you loved, and compile a whole lot of images of things that speak to you. That’s it.
When you compile that folder of images, then you get to meet with your design team and review it together. You don’t even have to really know what it is that speaks to you about each image – your designers will be able to pull the themes from across your selections and work with you to create a design that speaks to you.
Is it neutral wood tones, a rich industrial vibe, natural light everywhere? Do you want to capture a bohemian art deco look or a Caribbean escape? Do you lean towards traditional Spanish or Italian influences? Whatever it may be – your design team will help you create a space that you cannot wait to while your days away inside.
When it comes to design and renovation, things will inevitably get a bit stressful. It’s part of the process – even if it doesn’t have its own dedicated phase. That’s why it is so important to focus on the fun aspects – the design elements, the color selections, and the end result. Ideally, when you work with the right team, the stressors will be reduced and you’ll be able to trust that you’re in good hands. At Debowsky Design Group, we work hard so that you can rest easy.
