…a house is not a home until you love where you live…

What Drives You Absolutely Crazy About Your House? Let’s Name It.

As much as we love our homes, everyone has things about their interior or exterior spaces they just can’t stand. Whether it’s related to layout, functionality, or size, these are elements you can’t seem to get used to. Simply put, these seemingly minor details don’t suit your lifestyle.

This is the driving factor behind countless home renovations. When someone finally commits to a renovation, it’s often because they’ve concluded that a certain design element is truly, truly bothering them.

To show you what we mean, here are some common sources of frustration in peoples’ homes that frequently get solved with renovations:

Empty Backyard

With so many aspects of a house to worry about, it’s easy to forget about your backyard. But then you look outside and realize your backyard has become this soulless, empty space.

Is that how you want to feel when you see your that space? No, you want your backyard to be an extension of your home, creating a place for your family to share experiences the same way the inside of your home is.

Outdated Bathroom

Between getting ready for work in the morning and taking that warm shower at night, some of the most important parts of peoples’ days take place in the bathroom. But it’s hard to get ready in peace or truly enjoy that shower when your bathroom has old fixtures and an outdated layout.

You should feel relaxed in your bathroom, not rushed or cramped. Fortunately, a new layout and fixtures can help. For example, you could exchange a mid-century tub/shower combo for a roomy walk-in shower with digitally controlled water temperature and a rainfall showerhead.

Lack of Outdoor Access

Some homeowners love their backyards so much they want to be there all the time. That’s why it drives them crazy to have such limited access to this beloved space. For one of our recent clients, we were able to solve this problem by opening a living room wall and putting in folding patio doors that opened directly into the backyard.

Under-Sized Kitchen

It doesn’t matter how much you love cooking. Preparing meals for your family just isn’t as fun when your kitchen is too small.

Rather than pushing your passion aside, give your kitchen the space and updated appliances it deserves. For a recent client, we made their kitchen feel much bigger by raising the ceiling and combining the dining and kitchen space into a more open layout. Now, every family meal feels much more meaningful.
